Kriti Darlami, a 20-year-old from the scenic district of Palpa, Nepal, is currently enrolled as a second-semester student in the BTCSOL program at Lumbini Buddhist University (LBU). A nuclear family, filled with love and support, has been the foundation from which strength has been drawn throughout this journey. Encouragement and belief from family members have been cherished as the greatest assets in every step taken.
The journey was embarked upon with dreams, uncertainty, and a heart brimming with hope. Despite a strong academic foundation in Science, having completed +2 with a commendable GPA and being admitted to a BSc program while preparing for Loksewa, a sense of fulfillment was lacking. The path, though outwardly promising, was not truly aligned with inner aspirations. Progress was made, but only with partial conviction.
Originally, the intention was to pursue further education in science. However, an unexpected turn, described as a blessing in disguise, altered this course. Gratitude is owed to Mr. Kumar Khadka from LBU and Mr. Ashesh Bhattarai from a previous school, whose guidance and encouragement were instrumental in recognizing and seizing this opportunity. Among all supporters, deep admiration is held for a father whose role has transcended that of a parent. Quiet motivation and steadfast support have been provided through words, actions, and silent presence, carrying immeasurable significance. It was through his suggestion that the BTCSOL course, aligning perfectly with a secretly admired but previously unconsidered pursuit, was discovered. The introduction to this program ultimately led to enrollment at LBU.
Upon learning about the course, a realization dawned that this was the true calling. The decision was made to change paths and join LBU. Life in the Bhairahawa hostel was begun, and studies in BTCSOL were undertaken. Initially, challenges were faced due to the unfamiliarity of the language and environment, but adaptation occurred gradually. Supportive friendships were formed, providing mutual encouragement. Fortunate circumstances allowed for instruction from kind, knowledgeable, and approachable teachers whose encouragement fostered daily effort. Their belief in potential and effective teaching methods facilitated understanding and retention, significantly boosting interest and confidence in the subject.

Diligent preparation was undertaken for the HSK exam. When the exams were sat, good marks were achieved, reinforcing belief in personal potential. Through persistent effort, a scholarship to study at Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU), a prestigious institution for international students in China, was secured. Being selected is regarded not merely as an achievement but as a testament to what dedication and courage can accomplish.
Fascination with China has always been present, captivated by its rich culture, extensive history, values, and friendly people. Dreams of exploring the country, learning its traditions, and immersing in its way of life have long been held. Now, these dreams are being realized. While in China, the intention is not only to study but to deeply understand the Chinese way of life, fostering personal growth and forming lasting connections.
Upon returning to Nepal, the knowledge, language skills, and experiences gained in China are planned to be utilized to contribute to the community. A role in strengthening ties between Nepal and China is envisioned through promoting cultural understanding, language exchange, and mutual respect. The belief is held that the relationship between the two nations can be enhanced through education and shared experiences, with a desire to be a meaningful part of this connection. After achieving these goals, guidance and support are hoped to be offered to students aspiring to study in China on scholarships, helping them prepare, encouraging their dreams, and demonstrating that with hard work and determination, success is attainable.
Currently, the position of a student with a dream and an opportunity is held. Challenges are anticipated, but commitment to hard work and staying true to goals remains steadfast. Excitement is felt for this new chapter and its possibilities. This marks only the initial step of a broader journey, with much still to be learned and experienced. Readiness is felt to grow, explore, and strive for the envisioned future, carrying the hopes of family, teachers, and personal aspirations.
